The first postage stamp of the upcoming year to be issued by the United States Postal Service (USPS) will feature the colourful Quilled Paper Lovely Heart design. The featured heart has been created using the art of quilling. Quilling involves rolling and shaping thin strips of paper which are then laid down on their side and glued to a flat surface to form elegant and intricate designs. The quilled heart featured on the stamp is made of colourful strips of paper surrounded by white, all against a white background.
